Yvonne Wilson

This edition of the Partner Profile features Yvonne Wilson, a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor from Ontario, Canada.  Yvonne responded to our question “Did you choose STOTT PILATES as your education for a career change to a Pilates Instructor?” which was posted on Facebook October 25, 2012.

After 28 years in the corporate world, Yvonne embarked on a journey to address the years of chronic back pain she experienced as a result of injury, pregnancy and too much sitting at her desk!  She was first introduced to STOTT PILATES training through her physiotherapist who also happened to be STOTT PILATES certified. Having reaped the benefits of Pilates as a form of therapy, she wanted to learn for herself the “magic” of Pilates and enrolled in the Full Comprehensive Training program in Toronto. Yvonne became a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor in 2012.

Wanting to help others who experience back pain and age-related aches, Yvonne opened a home-based studio, Pilates Possibilities and instructs as a part-time career. Her studio includes a Stability Chair™ and a V2 Max Plus™ Reformer. So far, her favourite moment as an instructor is seeing the epiphany a client has when they make a mind-body connection.

Pilates has become a family affair as Yvonne has introduced her husband Scott to Pilates as well. A swimmer with the Thornhill Masters Swim team, Scott has been able to improve his times, mostly due to enhanced shoulder mobility, ease of movement (not fighting the water as much) and improved flexibility in flip turns. He has learned how helpful Pilates can be to his training and hopes to achieve his goal of getting into the World Masters Swim Meet in 2014.
