HR Advisor (10 months contract)

Position overview

As an integral part of the People & Culture team, HR Advisor will be accountable to deliver on key projects and process related with Talent at Merrithew, The HR Advisor will get overall direction from P&C Director and co-design solutions, act as project lead, and support the full implementation of each assigned project. With a strong focus on client support, the position will also take on a full staffing and recruiting process for key positions in some areas like Education, Sales and customer facing roles. The successful incumbent would work closely with People Leaders and receive input from Senior Management that will shape the HR solution and/ or process improvement.

This is a Hybrid (work from home/office) position located at our major facilities in Scarborough. From time to time, the role would need to visit our Education team located at Y&E.

Major responsibilities

People Engagement

  • Contributing to the improvement, development and implementation of HR policies and procedures as part of the Merrithew Employee Handbook and internal self-service tools
  • Developing and implementing employee engagement initiatives
  • Conducting surveys and feedback sessions to gauge employee satisfaction

Talent Acquisition and Management

  • Collaborating with assigned client group and the hiring managers to identify staffing needs, supporting the development for job descriptions and recruiting process
  • Participating in recruitment processes, including intake, interviewing and selection of ideal candidates
  • Managing onboarding processes for new employees, including Orientation and assimilation sessions

Performance Management

  • Supporting a more contemporary design for the performance management systems and process at Merrithew, including forms, People Leader/Employee training and overall communication
  • Assisting in the development of performance improvement plans
  • Providing coaching and feedback to employees and managers
  • Supporting employee developmental recommendations initiatives

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

  • Support in the Co-design and communication for year one strategy around Merrithew DEI
  • Other duties as instructed

Skills and qualifications

  • Post Secondary education; a bachelor's degree in business or HR related programs
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Recruitment, and overall HR Support
  • A minimum of 3 years’ of related experience working in initiatives or projects around culture and talent
  • Ability work to across all levels in the organization
  • Exceptional critical thinking and process orientation
  • HRP is an asset
  • Knowledge of core HR process like hiring, orientation, performance cycle and overall HR client support
  • Strong Communication skills, including policy writing and facilitation skills for group sessions
  • Strong orientation to detail
  • Agile learner, passion for communication and change management techniques
