Lead Instructor Trainers

The designation of Lead Instructor Trainer is awarded to an individual who inspires others through leadership and the Merrithew Community of Excellence philosophy. These Pilates Lead Instructor trainers have a strong sense of team and demonstrated commitment to ensuring consistency and continual growth across Merrithew branded programs. A Lead IT has recognized experience teaching both teachers-in-training as well as private and group clients, and has been empowered with educating our worldwide network of instructors in valuable repertoire and curriculum additions.

Bio

After completing her bachelor’s degree in Japan, Rie moved to Toronto, Canada to pursue her avid interest in the human body and passion for health and wellness. She received her STOTT PILATES® certification in 2006, excelling further to become a Merrithew Instructor Trainer in 2008. Rie applies her expertise to deliver high quality education to students as a Lead Instructor Trainer and in her work as Education Programming Specialist at the Merrithew’s Head Office in Toronto. In addition to teaching students and supporting Instructor Trainers, she is involved in developing Merrithew Education and expanding Instructor Trainer resources and website content. She also became a Registered Homeopath in 2015, furthering her passion to help people in the pursuit of holistic health and wellness.

Bio

Dr. Bob Andersen has been in the performance coaching field for nearly 20 years and brings with him a vast array of knowledge and experience. He has expertise in performance training and functional movement as well as planning and implementing performance / strength and conditioning programs for all levels from aspiring youth to elite Olympic and professional athletes. He was the Head Performance/Strength Coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University, the Director of Performance Victory Human Performance, the Director of the Sports Medicine Institute of Nebraska, and as performance consultant for numerous Universities, teams, clubs and academies.

Bob is now a Lead Instructor Trainer for Merrithew, specializing in CORE, regularly teaching courses and workshops. He has earned a reputation as a dynamic presenter, expert instructor, and engaging mentor. He graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with Bachelor's Degrees in Exercise Science as well as Psychology then received his doctorate from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Bio

A native South African with a dance background, Rouxchelle began her STOTT PILATES® training in 2005. She opened a home studio and commercial studio in South Africa before relocating to New Zealand in 2010. After moving to Australia in 2011, she opened a new Studio DC Movement Lab. Rouxchelle is a great ambassador for Merrithew and her passion and enthusiasm are contagious. She is fully certified in STOTT PILATES and is a Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer specializing in STOTT PILATES Matwork & Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, & Barrels, ISP, Total Barre®, and Halo® Training. She is also a Qualified Instructor in ZEN•GA®, CORE, and Merrithew Fascial Movement . Rouxchelle creates an atmosphere of love and support for both clients and Instructors. Her client list includes all ages and all possible needs, from post-surgery rehabilitation to performance-enhancement for elite athletes such as Australian Olympic kayaker Naomi “Floody” Flood and Canadian Olympic kayaker Emily Fournel.

Sarah Jarvis joined the Merrithew team in 2004 after completing her Full Certification in STOTT PILATES® and is now a Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer and an Instructor Trainer specializing in ZEN•GA®, Halo® Training and Total Barre®. Sarah has trained under multiple Merrithew Master Instructor Trainers, including Moira Merrithew, PJ O'Clair, Wayne Seeto and Stefania Michas, and she regularly teaches Instructor and Instructor Trainer courses for ZEN•GA® and Total Barre at the Merrithew Corporate Training Center in Toronto, Canada. Sarah has extensive experience in planning and implementing Merrithew education programming, and extensive knowledge and experience in teaching and developing Merrithew branded programs. She is a mentor to internationally-trained Instructor Trainers, and for over a decade has presented on behalf of Merrithew throughout North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.

Sarah began teaching aerobics and weight training classes while finishing her degree in Business Administration at the University of Windsor. While working in sales and managing a club, she soon discovered STOTT PILATES exercise. Intrigued by the method and the ability to strengthen and refocus the mind and body, she made the transition from the high-impact training world and continues to witness the impact these programs have made all over the world. Sarah is also canfitpro certified and continues to stay current by attending workshops/courses within the field.

Bio

Saulo Ouverney holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education.

As a teenager, Saulo was a gymnast and competed in sports aerobics for eight years. After graduating university he taught fitness classes and private strength training, bringing the mental training he used to have as an athlete to his clients.

In 2006 he was introduced to the Pilates Method and it became his passion. By 2007 he was running his own Pilates studio.

In 2009, he discovered STOTT PILATES®. He decided to leave his job and move to São Paulo to pursue it. In 2013 he became an IT and Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer in 2017.

Saulo had a great experience living for a year and a half in the Middle East teaching Pilates, GYROTONIC® and Total Barre®. In 2016, Saulo audited many STOTT PILATES courses at the Corporate Training Center in Toronto.

Saulo is passionate about Merrithew programs, biomechanics and exercise physiology. As he continues along his chosen career path, he is always searching for the latest news and innovations to keep himself up-to-date on the latest in mindfulness and fitness.

Bio

Sheri is a Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer specializing in STOTT PILATES®, Total Barre® and CORE Athletic Conditioning and Performance Training. She’s also qualified in TRX®, Kettlebells and ViPR.

After earning a Ph.D. from Harvard University, Sheri’s first career was as a college economics professor. While she loved teaching, her passion for sports and wellness surpassed her interest in economics. She began training in Pilates in 2002 and quickly noticed how Pilates improved her performance in all sports, and later remedied her running injuries.

Sheri shares her expertise and love of fitness with a diverse clientele, including fellow instructors, clients and athletes. She also holds ACE certifications in Personal Training and Health Coaching and is a running coach for USA Track & Field.

Bio

A professional ballet dancer for more than 12 years, Stephanie was introduced to the STOTT PILATES® method during her rehabilitation from a back injury. After retiring from the stage in 2001, Stephanie worked as a ballet instructor and an administrator in the Classical Ballet Training Program at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. Her desire to give the students in the program the valuable benefit of Pilates prompted her to become a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor. In 2003 she founded Pilates Movement Studio and later became a Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer specializing in STOTT PILATES and Total Barre®.

Tessa Crofton

Bio

Tessa Crofton is the founder and director of West Coast Pilates and Health Inc., which has been located in Victoria, BC for more than 17 years. Tessa has always had a passion for movement and physical health, and is a well-known member of British Columbia’s Pilates community, as well as a valuable resource, leader, and mentor to Instructors. She is a certified personal trainer, group fitness leader and strength trainer. In 2000, Tessa became a Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer specializing in STOTT PILATES® and ZEN•GA®. She also holds multiple certifications with BCRPA and canfitpro and has been a Presenter on behalf of Merrithew at the Canfitpro Conference in Vancouver the past 2 years. Tessa works with physiotherapy patients on the road to recovery, triathletes and fitness enthusiasts to enhance their athletic performance, and breast cancer survivors to rebuild their strength and spirit. Tessa practices Pilates and other mindful movement modalities to improve flexibility, strength and endurance in her own athletic endeavors. Her passion for learning and sharing continuing education has helped Tessa become a sought-after teacher and a Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer.

Timothy Fleisher

Bio

Tim became an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew specializing in STOTT PILATES® and CORE in 2007 and moved to Brazil as a Lead IT shortly thereafter to train instructors in the STOTT PILATES method at Pilates Studio Fit; a Licensed Training Center in São Paulo. He moved back to the United States in 2011 and now is pursuing a Ph. D. in Exercise Science emphasis on Low Back Pain Research. Tim is a Licensed Massage Therapist, a Full Body Active Release Techniques Provider, and an Active Isolated Stretching Therapist. In addition to his schoolwork and training Pilates instructors, Tim acts as an NCAA sports massage therapist for collegiate swimming and diving teams such as Harvard, Iowa State and the University of Texas. He is also the assistant coach for the University of Texas Triathlon team.

Tracy Dawber has been teaching Pilates for more than 17 years. Originally a fully-trained classical ballet dancer and teacher, Tracy opened her own studio and taught Ballet for 9 years. While looking for an exercise to do for herself, a friend recommended Pilates. Her search led her to STOTT PILATES® and she decided to embark on training and certification in 1999. After completing her Full Certification, Tracy went on to become a Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer specializing in STOTT PILATES.
