Founders of Merrithew® and the STOTT PILATES® brand named 2012 inner IDEA inspiration award recipients

Toronto, October 31, 2012 – Lindsay and Moira Merrithew, co-founders of Merrithew® (MH&F), were honored as the Inner IDEA Inspiration Award recipients on Friday, October 26. The presentation occurred at the 7th annual Inner IDEA Conference that took place in La Quinta, CA, October 25-28.

The Inner IDEA Inspiration Award recognizes individuals whose outstanding leadership in the wellness field has inspired people toward mindful activity and a healthy lifestyle. Since founding Merrithew in 1988, the Merrithew’s have been committed to developing high-integrity wellness and fitness programs, products and services that help people to fulfill their potential.

For almost 25 years Moira and Lindsay have been dedicated to refining the STOTT PILATES® method of exercise and line of equipment. So far, over 34,000 students in 118 countries have trained in the STOTT PILATES methodology. More recently, Lindsay and Moira launched two new fitness brands - ZEN•GA™ and CORE™ Athletic Conditioning & Performance Training™ which are quickly growing in popularity as the company starts to offer instructor training around the world.

After an accomplished career as principal dancer with the City Ballet of Toronto and the Atlantic Ballet Company, Moira re-trained and certified as a Pilates instructor under the tutelage of Romana Kryzanowska at the original Pilates Studio in New York. In addition to creating the curricula and support materials for the STOTT PILATES education and certification programs, Moira is a content creator and a featured performer in the STOTT PILATES video series. Together with a team of physical therapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals she strives to ensure all programming is aligned with current scientific and biomechanical research.

Lindsay has been instrumental in designing, producing and marketing the company’s extensive equipment and video lines and is a member of Ontario’s prestigious Innovators Alliance for elite entrepreneurs. Lindsay was nominated twice for the esteemed Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award and is a five-time recipient of PROFIT Magazine’s 100 Fastest-Growing Companies award. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia and is a graduate of the Juilliard School of Performing Arts in New York City.

In 2013 Moira and Lindsay will celebrate 25 years in the health and fitness industry. They continue to learn about and participate in new advancements that help promote the benefits of mind-body exercise worldwide.
