Instructor Trainers

The members of our esteemed team of Pilates Instructor Trainers are accomplished and internationally sought-after educators known for their comprehensive knowledge, dedication and professionalism. Each hold full certification in the STOTT PILATES® method and have achieved additional designations to complement their training.

A diverse group, they come from varied backgrounds including physical therapy, exercise science, athletic therapy, dance, and group and personal fitness training to name a few. Every member of the team strives to uphold the highest standards of training that have been developed worldwide.

Bio

Amy Pronovost received her BA in Dance and English from Western Michigan University. She is currently an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew® specializing in STOTT PILATES®, a Level 1 Gyrotonic instructor, a 200-hour registered yoga teacher and an ACE certified Group Instructor Trainer. She has been teaching at Equilibrium in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan since 2000. She has also taught ballet for fifteen years and currently has students performing around the world and on Broadway.

Amy is an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew®, specializing in STOTT PILATES® Mat, Reformer and SPX® Matwork & Reformer, as well as a NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Speed, Agility & Quickness instructor and a Level 1 Gyrotonic Instructor. As a licensed physical therapist, Amy combines backgrounds in dance, sports medicine and Gyrotonic to design safe, yet challenging Pilates workouts for each individual regardless of their fitness level. Amy previously specialized in treating orthopedic, dance and sports injuries and enjoyed working with athletes of all levels, but now devotes her career to teaching Pilates.

Bio

Amy was introduced to Pilates while completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree as a Dance major at York University in Toronto. After pursuing a career in modern dance she turned to Pilates for her next challenge. In 2004, she became a STOTT PILATES® Fully Certified Instructor and was invited to work at the Corporate Training Centre in Toronto. Amy moved to Asia in 2008 where she spent 10 years in Singapore and now resides in Saigon, Vietnam. She continues to represent Merrithew® as a Floating Lead Instructor Trainer specializing in STOTT PILATES, Total Barre® and Halo® Training. She has traveled extensively worldwide teaching courses and presenting at international fitness conferences such as FILEX in Melbourne/Sydney, Australia, China Fit in Beijing, FIBO in Shanghai, the Yonion Yoga Festival in Xiamen, China and the online World Wellness Weekend. Amy has also been featured on Channel News Asia AM Live “Fighting Fit” series, was a visiting Fitness Specialist at the prestigious Amanoi Resort in Vietnam, and has worked with the artists of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem. Amy currently is enjoying her role in Saigon as the Director of Education at CHI Pilates, where she teaches both clients and courses to students who are pursuing a career in the Pilates industry.

Bio

Andrea was first introduced to STOTT PILATES® during her studies at Oklahoma City University to help overcome dance-related injuries. She began her education in the method in 2007, while working for Royal Caribbean Productions as a professional dancer. After achieving her Full Certification in 2013, Andrea proceeded to become an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew®, specializing in STOTT PILATES in 2014. Her passion for mind-body awareness and injury prevention, along with an upbeat teaching style, makes Andrea a perfect fit for teaching Pilates to a variety of clients and instructors.

Angel is the Technical Director for Akro Studio and an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew® specializing in STOTT PILATES® as a Lead IT who has worked in various Pilates centers in Madrid, Spain. He studied Occupational Therapy and leads the Rehab Pilates program at the European University of Madrid, where he works with individuals such as Diane Lee to guarantee the development of the STOTT PILATES curriculum within his latest research. Throughout his fruitful career, Angel has had the opportunity to work with several noteworthy professionals, including the renowned dancer, Victor Ullate, and is a recognized teacher and presenter all across Spain and South America.

Bio

Angela is owner and founder of Studio Pilates located in Winchester, MA. She is a fully certified STOTT PILATES® Instructor and an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew® specializing in STOTT PILATES Mat and Reformer. She began her Pilates training in 2002, became an IT in 2010 and in 2013, Angela became a ZEN•GA® and Total Barre® Qualified Instructor. Angela brings over 30 years of group fitness teaching experience to Studio Pilates, holding AFAA certifications in Group Fitness, Kickboxing, and Personal Training. Angela has always had a love and interest in fitness, has competed in several middle-distance triathlons and holds a purple belt in Tae Kwon Do. She is a graduate of Tufts University with a BS in biology and classical studies. She is passionate and knowledgeable and brings enormous energy and enthusiasm to her teaching.

Bio

Born in Hong Kong and educated in Canada, Anita moved to Shanghai, China in 1995. She stumbled upon Pilates while searching for a way to ease her muscle pain and tension. From the relief of her tense muscles to the relief of her tense mind and the discovery of a new inner strength, practicing Pilates left Anita open to the many possibilities in life. The change was so profound that she decided to leave her corporate life. She co-founded the Orange Room Wellness Center in 2006, which later became the first host center for Merrithew® education in China.

Anita first became a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor in 2012, an Instructor Trainer in 2015, and moved on to become a Lead Instructor Trainer for Merrithew in 2022 specializing in STOTT PILATES. In a fast-growing market in which quality can sometimes be compromised for quick results, she strives to uphold the high standard of Merrithew education in China, one course at a time.

Bio

Ann Carina became a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor in 2011, a STOTT PILATES Rehab Certified Instructor in 2013. She then moved on to become a Certified Instructor Trainer for Merrithew®, specializing in STOTT PILATES Rehab. As a competitive figure skater, Ann Carina was first introduced to the Pilates method and later, as a physiotherapy student, was introduced to STOTT PILATES. Ann Carina uses her STOTT PILATES training to fully rehabilitate clients back to daily life and also back to high level sports.

Bio

Annali Rose started her career as a professional dancer 18 years back. She was introduced to STOTT PILATES® in 1999 and she fell in love with the ways in which mindful movement helped her enhance her career and perform better as a dancer. She acquired her Level One Certification in Matwork and Reformer and earned her full STOTT PILATES Certification in 2004. STOTT PILATES has a significant influence on her teaching style and method. She strives to sustain the integrity of Pilates while empowering her wide client-base that consists on dancers and artists of all levels. Annali’s recent accomplishment is a Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance from Florida State University.

Anne has been practicing physiotherapy since her graduation from the University of Saskatchewan in 1981 with a focus on chronic pain syndromes, TMJ and spinal dysfunctions, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy. An Instructor Trainer for Merrithew®, Anne specializes in the STOTT PILATES® Injuries and Special Populations program for rehabilitation and conditioning and has developed individualized Pilates rehab exercise programs only available at Fitness Physiotherapy. A teacher of acupuncture and TMJ care to physiotherapists at a post graduate level, Anne has served on the Manitoba regulatory board for physiotherapists, The College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba and is a member of organizations including the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, The Acupuncture Foundation of Canada, and the International Association for the Study of Pain. She has been a contributor to many medical journals and general interest publications on physiotherapy subjects
