5 Tips to Refresh your Studio on a Budget

Giving your studio a facelift doesn’t need to empty your wallet. A little bit of creative thinking can go a long way towards freshening up your space. Small investments in your environment can have a big impact on the perceived value and quality of your services and create a lasting impression on new and old clients alike.

1. Reupholster Tired-looking Equipment

A fast, effective way to make your equipment look new again is to update the upholstery, springs and straps. Consider updating your vinyl color to match the color scheme of your studio or brand. For frequently-used machines, try out darker colors that will look newer, longer.

Trying to find a good upholsterer can be time-consuming. Depending on who you’re working with, reupholstering could leave your machines out of commission longer than necessary. We make it easy with our Upholstery Kits for Reformers which include: a newly Upholstered Carriage Top, Headrest with Adjuster Block, Shoulder Rest Pads (2), Replacement Sleeves for Shoulder Rests (2), Hinges and Hardware. Available in Standard Black or choose a Custom Color of your choice. Installation is totally DIY—quick and easy, requiring about half an hour to update each machine. Available for the Professional, V2 Max, Rehab and SPX® Max Reformers. Contact us to learn more.

2. A Fresh Coat of Paint

Repainting your studio can give your space new life, making the environment look clean and inviting. Keep things neutral but add some punch by painting one wall a strong color as an accent for the room. You’ll be surprised how much this can brighten and open up a space. For the eco-conscious or budget constrained, check your local paint store for mistints or unclaimed paint orders—often you can pick up paint that would otherwise end up as waste at a fraction of the cost.

3. Clean the Air with Plants and Nebulizers

Perk up your place with some strategically-placed plants which also improve air quality. Be kind to clients’ sensitive noses and stay away from flowers or other heavily-pollinating plants, and choose good-looking, durable, low-maintenance vegetation such as pothos, rubber tree plants, aloe vera, or a ficus shrub. To keep things smelling fresh, look at investing in a nebulizer to add a non-offensive scent to your practice space. The calming effect of aromatherapy can impart a sense of tranquility and relaxation.

4. Create Atmosphere and Positive Vibes with Lighting

Create a cozier atmosphere with soft, strategically-placed lighting. Try installing track lighting with a dimmer switch, or go with low-cost, homey lamps that you can easily move around to accommodate space requirements and change up for specific classes or times of day. Also consider adding a salt lamp near electronics to neutralize electromagnetic radiation and deodorize the air.

5. Replace Tired Mats and Props
