DVD - ZENGA Power & Strength 5

Challenging and Enjoyable

I finally did this DVD today and really loved it. PJ O’Clair leads this very interesting workout. The warm up flows in a dance-like way but is quite easy to follow. PJ uses the Warrior poses as a vehicle for dynamic balance and this was more interesting to me than I sometimes find traditional yoga. I also liked the fact that much as a dance class would be, the workout is divided into standing and mat sections. I have room to grow into the balances but was pleased to realize that - thanks to a regular habit of using Stott DVDs - I was able to do some movements that previously eluded me, even at my fittest. (Many years ago) PJ talks about building heat in the body. I did break a light sweat and my heart rate increased to what I’d experience with a comfortable walk. All in All quite enjoyable.

Wish I could give this dvd a good review as I have quite a few other dvds from STOTT PILATES that I really like (Body and Soul, Strong and Streamlined, several others that are so/so, and had Advanced Mat, but it got stuck in a broken player, shame I really loved that one, but I won't pay $45 for another one.). Regardless, this one didn't feel professional. It seems like the instructor (who I loved in the yoga video) didn't know, and/or wasn't up to this work-out. She had balance issues all through it (clearly no dance training), and talked way too much, and the dvd just didn't flow well. I prefer the workouts to be continuous. Yes, everyone needs to learn the work-out, but once that's done, I don't want to hear that same audio every time I use it.

I only write this to tell you how good I think your DVD programs are. I am an 77 year old physiotherapist and I have used your programs for may be 3 to 4 years. Up till just now I have been living in the Philippines and purchased the equipment in Manila and I purchased your DVDs online. I enjoy the exercises and the DVDS are so easy to follow. I have a routine of 2 DVDs in the morning and it is great fun. I only want you to know how much I appriciate your Pilates! Thank you.
