This workshop, developed by the Merrithew® team, uses the Twist Ball to highlight common athletic approaches and programming. The Twist Ball offers up a unique opportunity to incorporate load in both static and via swing and throwing actions that can enhance and stimulate the neuro-myofascial system. Use the Twist Ball to diversify programming, add load and to give direction and focus to movement. Workshop content is designed for healthy, conditioned participants who are eager and able to incorporate an athletic-style challenge into their Pilates practice.
Learning objectives
- Understand and review/enhance basic tenets of commonly accepted sports conditioning movements and protocols
- Explore the concepts of load, momentum and agility in relation to athletic programming and how these concepts can be addressed with the inclusion of the Twist Ball to programming
- Experience variations to standard athletic exercises and how STOTT PILATES-based concepts contribute to increases in overall fitness
- Elicit engagement and responsiveness in preparation for and to complement existing sports conditioning programs and/or training
