The Merrithew™ Faculty, or members of our esteemed team of Instructor Trainers, is made up of highly qualified and internationally sought-after educators who are known for their dedication, professionalism and attention to detail. All of our faculty members hold full certification in the STOTT PILATES® method and have achieved additional designations to complement their training. A diverse group, they come from various backgrounds including physical therapy, exercise science, athletic therapy, dance and group and personal fitness training to name a few. Every member of the team strives to uphold the highest standards of training that have been developed worldwide.

MELT Method Instructor, PhD in Dance Education, M.S. in Dance and Kinesiology, ACE Certified Personal Trainer.
Jean is a Merrithew™ Lead IT. She co-founded Pacific Northwest Pilates, one of the first Merrithew Licensed Training Centers in the US. Jean now teaches clients at the Multnomah Athletic Club and Stoke Pilates in downtown Portland. Jean also teaches for Merrithew as a floating Instructor Trainer around the world. Jean received an M.S. in Dance and Kinesiology from Indiana University in 1990, and went on to pursue a PhD in Dance Education from New York University. Jean has obtained her ACE certification in personal training and became certified in the MELT Method in 2011.
Jean started her Pilates training at NYU in 1992, and became a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor in 1998. She has been an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew since 2000. Jean has taught in physical therapy clinics, health clubs and private studios throughout Portland and has taught overseas for Merrithew in South Korea, Cyprus, Ireland, Iceland, Taiwan, Japan, India, and Kuwait.
