April was a busy month for the team here at MERRITHEW – not only did we take part in the FILEX Convention in Australia and the FIBO tradeshow in Germany, but we also hosted our first two Symposiums of 2015 in Cologne, Germany and New York, USA!
Every year, we look forward to our annual symposiums where exceptional fitness professionals come together to expand their learning and look for new ways to challenge their clients – our first two events have been no exception to the rule!
Germany’s symposium was a learning-filled, one-day event led by one Master Instructor Trainer, PJ O’Clair. Showcasing the latest from STOTT PILATES® and ZEN•GA™, PJ trained the trainers, equipping them with the most recent findings in exercise science that will soon be hitting gyms, studios and fitness facilities around the world.
At the New York event, hosted at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, we were most excited to introduce new programming streams, including Pilates, Group Ex and Dance, helping attendees make the most of their experience and welcoming new faces to the world of mindful movement.
One of my personal highlights was getting to be Lead Instructor Trainer Sarah Jarvis’ demo-body during Halo® Level 1: Introduction to Intermittent Interval Training – everyone really enjoyed this workshop, getting hands on with the newest version of Halo Trainer! For everyone who wants to replace their original Halo’s orange ball with the new, gunmetal gray version, they’re available here!
Other fun highlights at the event include having Executive Director, Education, and co-founder Moira Merrithew present workshops (always a special treat!) and spotting Mikhail Baryshnikov walk by during the Total Barre Foundation Course. Of course, one of our favourite highlights is always the genuine enthusiasm all the attendees had for our latest programming, including at-capacity Halo Training and Flexion Free workshops!
Especially having worked behind the scenes from the marketing angle for our Symposiums and other similar events, the opportunity to see it come to life in person was a fantastic experience to take part in.
