With so many different Reformers to choose from, which one is the right one for you? We asked Merrithew staff which machine they prefer, and why.

When taking my last Reformer class, I discovered my new favorite Reformer—the SPX® Max Plus Reformer. I really enjoyed being closer to floor rather than on a higher carriage, it made me feel as though I was somehow combining Matwork with Reformer programming. This Reformer offers all the functionality you would need since it's equipped with the Vertical Frame. The space saving component is also really attractive for someone who wants to bring this Reformer into their home.

The Rehab V2 Max™ Reformer is the Reformer of choice for my physical therapy and Pilates practice. The quick-set Pulley posts allow fast changes for exercises without sacrificing stability. The six placement choices for the carriage stopper allow safe and tension-free starting positions. The adjustable gear bar is invaluable in allowing control of the initial tension of the Reformer, avoiding unwanted loading in the starting position. Being able to comfortably place hands on the wide Reformer tracks and having a platform extender that can be placed over the tracks on either side of the Reformer allow for a high level of flexibility with exercises.

My favourite reformer is the V2 Max™ Plus, I love this Reformer because it is a multipurpose machine. With the extension straps and leg springs you can incorporate extra resistance which maximizes strengthening your quadriceps and glutes. Another reason I love this machine is because it is the perfect height for stretching at the end of a workout.

My favourite Reformer isn't a Reformer, it's the Vertical Frame—the “plus” in the V2 Max™, Rehab and SPX® series. Working with several instructors in a busy studio with only one Cadillac but several V2 Max™ Plus Reformers means that we can replicate the majority of Cadillac exercises with the Roll-Down Bar, Push-Thru Bar, and Arm and Leg Springs on the vertical frame without fighting for equipment. It's a win-win for clients and instructors!
