Q. I am looking to take the STOTT PILATES® certification program, but don’t know where to start! I have been taking private and group Pilates classes regularly for the last 2 years and used to teach spinning classes in college. I think I need to take the Comprehensive course, because I don’t have a formal anatomy background, but I work full time! Please advise me of my options, because I love Pilates and really want to become an instructor!
A. Reaching out to one of our Education Advisors is the best place to start. We’ll ask some questions about your relevant experience, and find the right fit for you.
The Comprehensive Program is perfect for those looking to start a new career in Pilates. It provides students with our essential and intermediate repertoires, our Functional Anatomy course, and invaluable teaching experience through our Apprenticeship program.
Since you have some teaching experience, the Intensive Program may also be a great choice. As you know, it has the following three prerequisites:
- Working knowledge of functional anatomy
- Minimum 30 hours Pilates classes/workouts
- Three-plus years teaching movement or fitness *
*Applicants with a strong of Pilates participation and/or experience instructing students/clients in another field may also be considered.
By completing our Functional Anatomy course before beginning your training, you’ll be a very strong candidate for our Intensive Level courses, which are offered around the world, with flexible schedules.
If you love Pilates, and want to empower others to improve their health and fitness, there is always a way. We will work together to help you accomplish your goals!
