Equilibrium Mind-Body Fitness 

ABOUT: Equilibrium opened its doors in 1997 as the first fully Licensed STOTT PILATES® Training Center in the United States and offers private sessions, group sessions, and full certification which includes an enriching apprenticeship program, with courses starting five times a year. At the STOTT PILATES 2012 Community of Excellence Conference, Equilibrium was awarded one of the 5 studios with the Most Students Trained since 2009. Equilibrium is the only Pilates studio to offer TRX and Xtend Barre in Michigan. They also offer The Gyrotonic System, Gyrokineses and Cardio Circuit Training. Equilibrium has 22 Instructors, including Instructor Trainers, Physical Therapists and apprentices. All Instructors are certified in STOTT PILATES prior to teaching clients in other programs, making all of the workouts more effective and safer.
Equilibrium also has a Satellite Training Studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The Intensive Program

The STOTT PILATES Intensive program is for fitness and health professionals. This program prepares you to teach STOTT PILATES Level 1 Matwork and equipment-based repertoires safely, effectively and with confidence.

Intensive Mat-Plus™ (IMP)

LEVEL: 1      40 hours

Intensive Reformer (IR)

LEVEL: 1      50 hours

The Comprehensive Program

Designed for those with some movement training and exposure to Pilates, Comprehensive courses cover functional anatomy and the practical skills needed to develop effective and motivating Level 1 Matwork and equipment-based programs.

Comprehensive Matwork & Reformer (CMR)

The Advanced Program

The Advanced program consists of Level 2 courses in Matwork, Reformer, and Cadillac, Chair & Barrels. Completion of the Advanced program is required for full certification.

Injuries & Special Populations

The STOTT PILATES Injuries & Special Populations course equips you with the skills required to address a broad range of physical challenges among your clients. Completion of ISP is required for full certification.

There are currently no ISP courses scheduled at this location

The Rehabilitation Program

The Rehabilitation program is specifically for licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, sports medicine professionals and chiropractors wishing to integrate modified STOTT PILATES exercises for injury prevention and rehabilitation into their practices.

ZEN•GA Courses

ZEN•GA™ is an innovative fusion of exercise science and mindful movement that brings about clarity of the mind while releasing body tension through purposeful movement. ZEN represents the search for inner discovery, while YOGA symbolizes the way to reach it. Together they form ZEN•GA, which is based on Four Mindful Movement Principles: breath, support, yield and flow. When applied together, these principles allow you to become aware of how the body and the mind move in tandem. ZEN•GA focuses on core stability, stamina and resilience while attaining a state of presence. The increase in demand on your neuromuscular system allows you to reap the benefits of improved strength, clarity and overall fitness.

CORE™ Courses

Take your workouts to the next level with our CORE Athletic Conditioning & Performance Training– developed exclusively by Merrithew Health & Fitness™ experts.  This unique training program focuses on functional fitness targeting core strength and kinesthetic awareness leading to improvements in total-body strength and power. This multi-layered system is designed for both novice and high-level athletes.

Total Barre™ Courses

Total Barre™ is a high-energy program that focuses on strength, flexibility, stamina and dynamic stability by combining elements from Pilates, dance, cardio and strength training. Programming is driven by music which increases coordination, motivation and improve movement quality. Incorporating the Total Barre Foundational Principles, this program teaches choreography, exercise essence and correct biomechanics of movements as well as how to cue effectively and safely to music.

The intensive courses are recommended for certified fitness instructors, personal trainers, and other fitness & health professionals who want to expand their knowledge and enhance their business. Applicants must have, at least three years experience teaching fitness, dance or movement, familiarity with the works of Joseph Pilates, formal anatomy training and a working knowledge of muscle origins, insertions and functions, in order to attend the course.
A Note Regarding Exams:
You are not obliged to write (and pay for) two exams if you are planning to take both courses. You may choose to wait until completion of the second course to write your exam (a combined Matwork and Reformer exam). If you prefer to pause between courses, you may choose to take an exam to become certified in Matwork only, and another exam (a combined Matwork and Reformer exam) after completing the second course to become certified in Reformer work. In this case two exam fees would apply.
