DVD - Foam Roller Challenge 5

Instability builds Control

Like most Moira Stott led workouts this WO is based upon the Pilates sequence, in this case the mat sequence. I really enjoy her calm measured delivery. She seems to know exactly when I need a form cue or correction. I actually found this WO a bit more demanding than the 3/5 Ball WOs. I think that’s because the roller is a smaller surface when compared to the ball and therefore is less supportive. The roller only rolls in two directions whereas the ball is a rolling free for all, but that narrow roller surface still makes a difference. I think I’d tell people with back or SIJ issues to approach this one with care. The load to those areas is really magnified on some of the movements. It’s not that you can’t or necessarily shouldn’t do it. Just approach it with care and back out of exercises or modify down as necessary. Listen to Moira’s cues carefully and you’ll be fine. After using workouts that use an unstable surface like the ball, roller or Bosu I’m happy to report increased control that translates to usable strength.

I only write this to tell you how good I think your DVD programs are. I am an 77 year old physiotherapist and I have used your programs for may be 3 to 4 years. Up till just now I have been living in the Philippines and purchased the equipment in Manila and I purchased your DVDs online. I enjoy the exercises and the DVDS are so easy to follow.
