5 Not-so-obvious Benefits of Earning CECs

5 benefits of earning CECs

STOTT PILATES® Certification is well respected in the fitness industry due to our high education standards and our mission to stay on top of new research and industry advancements.

Certified Instructors are required to obtain 0.6 CECs (six hours) annually to maintain their certification. Aside from maintaining certification, there are many other benefits (and options) for earning CECs.

  1. Take courses and workshops in other Merrithew programs
CORE Athletic Conditioning & Performance Training, Total Barre®, ZEN•GA®, Halo® Training, or Merrithew Fascial Movement count towards STOTT PILATES CECs. This will also broaden your repertoire, expand your knowledge of other modalities, giving you tools to teach a wider range of clients, and potentially expand your revenue stream
  2. Attend a Symposium or tradeshow
A great way to earn all your CECs in one sitting and gives you a different opportunity to network with like-minded fitness professionals
  3. Customized repertoire review or teaching evaluation
Go through a private workout with a Merrithew® Instructor Trainer to gain insight about your teaching abilities and get valuable feedback from the instructor. This is a great way to fine-tune your teaching skills and style to ensure you are giving the highest quality instruction to your clients
  4. Take an anatomy, biomechanics, exercise physiology or other exercise science course or workshop that is outside what is offered through Merrithew
Although this must be petitioned for acceptance and can only count towards a maximum of 0.2 CECs, this is a great way to expand your knowledge further and is an ideal option for someone who is already enrolled in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related subject
  5. Focus your continuing education on one of 9 STOTT PILATES Specialty Tracks
With over 150 workshops to choose from, becoming a Specialist will allow you to discover the specific needs and modifications for certain clientele. You’ll walk away with the tools you need to develop effective programming plus you will earn a Specialist designation
