Spot the Difference: Scapulae Positioning

Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer Bianca Bolissian demonstrates scapulae positioning.

Question: Which picture shows the correct position?

Photo A Photo B
Photo A Photo B

Answer: Photo A

In Photo A, the scapulae are hugging the ribcage and are flat—not winging. The medial border is not as anteriorly tipped. When in motion, the scapulae glide on the back with no rigidity.

In Photo B, the scapulae are winging away from the ribcage, with the edges anteriorly tipped. When in motion, they move rigidly, and are removed from the back.
