This interactive workshop, developed by the MERRITHEW™ team, demonstrates how simple tools can expand the options available in any Matwork class. Learn select exercises from the STOTT PILATES® Matwork repertoire incorporating the Arc Barrel, the Fitness Circle® resistance ring and the Flex-Band® exerciser. Learn how these props challenge the core and periphery and aid in developing a program for all ability levels. These tools can be used to challenge or facilitate movements in flexion, lateral flexion or extension or to target core and peripheral muscles with ingenuity and variety. Discover useful tips on the application of exercises and modifications for specific body types, fitness levels and special needs as well as learn cues and corrections for safety and effectiveness.

  1. Apply the Five Basic Principles of STOTT PILATES to Matwork exercises with light equipment.
  2. Understand how to use these tools to add variety, challenge, support and resistance.
  3. Discover how to use small props to sculpt, strengthen and tone the total body.
  4. Explore exercise variations and modifications for specific body types.
