Instructor Trainer bios

The Merrithew Faculty, or members of our esteemed team of Instructor Trainers, is made up of highly qualified and internationally sought-after educators who are known for their dedication, professionalism and attention to detail. All of our faculty members hold full certification in the STOTT PILATES® method and have achieved additional designations to complement their training. A diverse group, they come from various backgrounds including physical therapy, exercise science, athletic therapy, dance and group and personal fitness training to name a few. Every member of the team strives to uphold the highest standards of training that have been developed worldwide.

Bio

Originally from South Africa, Rob has been within the fitness industry for the past 25 years, where he started with fitness class instruction including aerobics, circuits, step and body conditioning. After moving to Boston, Rob started his training with STOTT PILATES® in 2000 and a long journey continued, which included further Certifications in yoga, Esalen Massage, Cranial Sacral Therapy and WATSU (Water based Shiatsu). He has been able to incorporate this therapy knowledge into his Pilates teaching. After operating his own Pilates and yoga studio in Winthrop, Massachusetts for 11 years, Rob moved to London in 2011 and finally became an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew™, specializing in STOTT PILATES in 2013. Rob is passionate about teaching and motivating, his passion for helping others is what drives him to provide his clients with careful attention, encouragement and compassion, allowing them to become the best they can be and believe in themselves.

Bio

After spending the early years of her career working in the reinsurance industry in London, a job relocation took Roberta to Bahrain at the beginning of 1999. Two years later, she decided to leave the corporate world behind, in order to follow her passion and nurture her interests in biomechanics, Pilates and yoga, which she had been practising since she was 18. She has been studying, practicing and teaching Pilates since 2004, and became a Merrithew Instructor Trainer in STOTT PILATES® Mat and Reformer in 2009, when she also established her own company, STUDIO RCT Pilatesbahrain, located in the heart of Bahrain. She is also a Merrithew Instructor Trainer in Total Barre®, CORE, ZEN•GA® Mat and Reformer.

Roberta was recognized by the Pink Ribbon Program as a post-rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist (BCES).She is certified in Suspension Training with TRX, The Roll Model and is a STARK BODYFLYING, BOSU and freeFORM board worldwide Master Trainer.

She is also a yoga teacher trainer with the RYA, as a result of 500 hours of training and many years practicing Iyengar yoga. She created her own flow with YOGAFITLATES, a discipline she teaches regularly in her studio.

She is an active member of the Pilates Teacher Association UK, and specializes in myofascial therapies. She completed level 1 and 2 Anatomy Trains and Kinesiology through Touch for Health at Level 4, completing her proficiency. In 2017, she trained in using Matrix Rhythm Therapy, developed by Dr. Ulrich G. Randoll at the University of Erlangen/Nuremberg, Germany, for treating and preventing medical conditions connected with the musculoskeletal system. Early in 2018, she certified at Level 1 with the EBFA, as a barefoot training specialist Level 1.

Roberta is a qualified Kinesiologist, Aromatherapist and Reflexologist and has attended many workshops and seminars in specialised areas of the disciplines in which she is certified, such as Vojta Techniques for treatment of scoliosis, The Mulligan Technique for mobilization with movement manual therapies, and Kinesiology Taping, to name a few.

Teaching many of the Bahraini aristocracy, including the royal family, as well as many clients with physical disabilities, she loves the emotional reward and satisfaction of really being able to improve people’s lives via her teaching methods, by reducing their pain and improving their mobility. Due to her commitment, she has many long-term clients, as well as teachers around the world with whom she has qualified to the high standards she sets for herself.

Additionally, Roberta has studied languages, speaking English and Italian fluently and able to translate written French, German, Russian and Spanish. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in statistics and mathematics.

Bio
Ronit has an extensive background in sports, dance and movement and has always been attracted to alternative healing. She achieved full certification in 2008 and went on to become an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew™ specializing in STOTT PILATES® in 2009.  With Pilates, she found the perfect marriage between movement and rehabilitation. For Ronit, Pilates is about quality movement of the body that can help people resolve pain without the need for medication, an important aspect of alternative healing.

Bio
A native South African with a dance background, Rouxchelle began her STOTT PILATES® training in 2005. She opened a home studio and commercial studio in South Africa before relocating to New Zealand in 2010. After moving to Australia in 2011, she opened the beautiful Keola Wellness and Pilates Studio. Rouxchelle is a great ambassador for Merrithew and her passion and enthusiasm are contagious. She is fully certified in STOTT PILATES and is a Merrithew Instructor Trainer specializing in STOTT PILATES Matwork and Reformer. She is also a Total Barre®, CORE and ZEN•GA® Instructor. Rouxchelle creates an atmosphere of love and support for both clients and Instructors. Her client list includes all ages and all possible needs, from post-surgery rehabilitation to performance-enhancement for elite athletes such as Australian Olympic kayaker Naomi “Floody” Flood and Canadian Olympic kayaker Emily Fournel.
