Instructor Trainers

The Merrithew Faculty, or members of our esteemed team of Instructor Trainers, is made up of highly qualified and internationally sought-after educators who are known for their dedication, professionalism and attention to detail. All of our faculty members hold full certification in the STOTT PILATES® method and have achieved additional designations to complement their training. A diverse group, they come from various backgrounds including physical therapy, exercise science, athletic therapy, dance and group and personal fitness training to name a few. Every member of the team strives to uphold the highest standards of training that have been developed worldwide.

Bio

Matilda has been working as a Pilates instructor for over 14 years. She became a fully certified instructor in 2004 at the STOTT PILATES® International Certification Center in Toronto, and went on to become an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew™ specializing in STOTT PILATES in 2011, joining three others in Sweden. Besides her education in Pilates she is a trained classical dancer from The Royal Swedish School of Ballet and freelanced as a dancer before critically injureding her neck on stage. “The best part about my work is that I get to work with both people and training”, says Matilda.

Melina Giacomasso Caleffi

Bio

Melina graduated from the Dance University in Campinas, Brazil in 2005, where she studied classical ballet and contemporary dance. Her background made it easier to teach people how to understand their own body and create a good quality of movement. Currently studying Physiotherapy in Brazil, Melina started her STOTT PILATES® training in 2010, and went on to become an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew™ specializing in STOTT PILATES in 2013. She added Cadillac, Chair and Barrels IT credentials to her resume in 2015, when she co-opened her own studio, Espaço Manawa. In 2013, she became the first Total Barre® Instructor Trainer in Brazil. She continues to be an advocate of the STOTT PILATES method and the Five Basic Principles in particular.

Bio

Melissa started teaching group exercise in 1985, and was certified through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She eventually became a CEU provider for ACE, and certified in Personal Training and Spinning. Melissa continued her interest in health and fitness by becoming a Physical Therapy Assistant. In 1998, Melissa found STOTT PILATES®, and became an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew, specializing in STOTT PILATES in 2003. Melissa owns a studio in East Greenwich, RI and is also certified in Zumba®, Yamuna® Body Rolling, TRX® and holds belts in Krav Maga, Budokon and MMA. Melissa graduated from the University of RI with a bachelor degree in Human Sciences, and from Bryant University with an MBA in Marketing. She holds professional certifications from the American Society for Training & Development, Seton Hall School of Law’s Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Healthcare Compliance program, the Healthcare Compliance Association, Dale Carnegie Training, and an EMT license from the State of RI’s Department of Health.

Bio

Melissa’s passion for movement in its many forms began at an early age with gymnastics, swimming, diving, and dance lessons. She trained in classical ballet and modern dance and has performed professionally in Minneapolis, MN and the Bay area. Melissa began studying Pilates in 2000 and found it to be a powerful supplement to her dance training. She began her STOTT PILATES® training in 2007 and completed her full certification in 2012. In 2013, she became an Instructor Trainer for Merrithew™ specializing in STOTT PILATES. Melissa is trained in Injuries and Special Populations and loves working with people of diverse movement backgrounds and fitness levels. She believes that movement has the potential to heal the body and mind; her goal as a movement facilitator and teacher is to guide people toward greater freedom and joy in movement and to healthier lives.

Bio

Melissa Noble is a movement specialist focused on both the performing and the healing arts. In addition to her work as an instructor, dancer and choreographer, Melissa is a Certified Instructor and Instructor Trainer for Merrithew™ specializing in STOTT PILATES®. She is also a Licensed Massage Therapist, who has been assisting clients with injuries using therapeutic massage and Pilates since 1996. Currently on Faculty at University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance, she opened Bodycenter Studios in Washington in 1999, which became the first Merrithew Licensed Training Center in Seattle. After moving to Bloomington in 2007, Melissa opened Bodycenter Bloomington and started one of the first STOTT PILATES Certification courses in a University setting at Indiana University in the Dance Department.
