STOTT PILATES® Full Intermediate Reformer Workout

For participants already familiar with Intermediate Reformer exercises, this session is an invaluable review and a great workout. Developed by the Merrithew® team, practice the full selection of exercises from the STOTT PILATES® Intermediate Reformer repertoire. Strategies toward creating a flowing workout are discussed. However, discussion regarding modifications or other teaching tips are kept to a minimum. Learn more complex and coordinated Intermediate-level skills, with emphasis on the goals of the exercises, correct biomechanics and alignment.

Learning objectives

  1. Apply the STOTT PILATES Principles to the full Intermediate Reformer repertoire
  2. Experience the entire exercise list in a fluid and continuous workout
  3. Understand movement essence and exercise goals
  4. Learn cues and corrections for safety and effectiveness

STOTT PILATES® Reformer with Fitness Circle®

In this workshop, developed by the Merrithew® team, learn how the Fitness Circle® can bring variety and challenge into group or private Reformer settings. Add more challenge to adductors and abductors of the peripheral limbs as well as assist in activating the core. The resistance ring reinforces correct muscle firing patterns and helps ensure correct positioning while adding an element of fun and variety to each workout.

Learning objectives

  1. Understand how the STOTT PILATES Principles apply to exercises using the Reformer and Fitness Circle
  2. Discover how the Fitness Circle can be used in innovative movement sequences
  3. Utilize the resistance ring to increase challenge to upper and lower body respectively
  4. Learn how to incorporate these movements into a complete Reformer workout to create variety and challenge

STOTT PILATES® Prenatal Pilates on the Reformer

Learn the benefits of taking moms-to-be from traditional Matwork variations to select exercise modifications on the Reformer in this workshop, developed by the Merrithew® team. Using current exercise guidelines provided by the ACOG and bearing in mind common anatomical and physiological changes, appropriate STOTT PILATES® exercise adaptations are explored using the Reformer in innovative and beneficial ways. Workout safety and effectiveness remain paramount and the client’s risk factors, pre-pregnancy fitness level, health concerns and fitness goals are being taken in to account when creating new and ongoing programs.

Learning objectives

  1. Apply the STOTT PILATES Principles to specific exercises on the Reformer
  2. Understand movement essence and exercise goals for the prenatal client
  3. Explore how exercise choices are made for the prenatal client and modifications that may be needed
  4. Hear cues and corrections for safety and effectiveness

STOTT PILATES® Interval Training on Jumpboard or Cardio-Tramp®, Level 1

Learn to challenge and motivate clients and classes using either the Jumpboard or Cardio-Tramp® rebounder with the Reformer, in this workshop developed by the Merrithew® team. Innovative and simple jumping combinations are combined with upper- and lower-body strength and flexibility exercises. This unique cardio / strength interval workout on the solid accessory board or resilient vertical trampoline, challenges the core and total body strength while elevating the heart rate, all while focusing on proper jumping technique. This energetic format keeps clients and classes on the move.

Learning objectives

  1. Apply the STOTT PILATES Principles to Jumpboard or Cardio-Tramp and Reformer exercises
  2. Challenge client’s cardiovascular system and build endurance
  3. Challenge abdominal stability and strengthen lower body through jump sequences
  4. Learn exercise variations and modifications for specific body types

Vichael Mak
Instructor Trainer

Vichael is the proud co-owner of VIM Pilates Studio, a Merrithew® Host Training Center in Hong Kong. In 2010, he became the first Merrithew Instructor Trainer specializing in STOTT PILATES® in Greater China region. Awarded the Rookie IT in 2012 and is a Lead IT currently.

Being able to teach bilingually in English and Chinese, Vichael has trained students in Canada, Hong Kong, Korea, Mainland China and Taiwan, Thailand. His courses and workshops always attract a wide array of students.

Vichael is passionate about teaching, He tries to keep his client teaching despite his busy schedule of instructor trainings.

Vichael also enthuses about learning. He finished his Master study in Osteopathy after another one in Sports Medicines. He also gets trained by gurus in fascial sciences such as Thomas Myers and Robert Schleip.

Vichael’s extensive experience makes his teaching unique and practical. Students from different backgrounds all find it easy to learn from his classes.
