Software Developer

Position Overview

Reporting to the Sr. Manager Digital Technology, you will be a member of a small IT team operating as a business enabler and supporting the growth of the organization through the efficient utilization of technology. As a Software Developer you will be involved in a wide variety of software development practices and processes. These activities may include but are not limited to custom software development for new business needs or processes, working with departmental leads to design and develop integrations between various systems in a Sage centric environment, as well as creating and implementing CRM/ERP customizations.

Highly competent communication and interpersonal skills are required for this position, as you will directly interface with several stakeholders within each business area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and support ERP system databases.
  • Maintain and support existing Sage CRM system including all custom built integrations and added functionality.
  • Create and implement new features to the CRM system based on the needs expressed by various departments.
  • Maintain and provide feature enhancements to existing custom applications and reports.
  • Apply knowledge of industry trends and developments and provide advice on the development of new or enhanced functionality in the application portfolio to support business processes and future growth.
  • Create and maintain support and process documentation.
  • Adhere to deadlines by using excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and multi-task with competing user demands.
  • Apply excellent analytical and problem solving skills to produce unique solutions to complex technical and business scenarios.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to describe complex system behaviours and functions for use by various teams and departments.
  • Ability to adapt well to change in a rapidly growing company with updating and launching of new IT technologies.

Technical Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in computer science or related field with emphasis on backend development and database driven systems with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database management systems (particularly SQL Server).
  • Development experience with stored procedures, functions and views within SQL Server.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience developing various .NET driven applications using C#.
  • Experience modifying and creating Crystal Reports.
  • Experience modifying and creating reports using SQL Server Reporting Services.
