Manager, Marketing & Communications (15 Month Contract)

Position overview

An exciting opportunity to join a growing and collaborative team in the mindful movement industry. The Manager, Marketing & Communications is responsible for leading and managing the execution of key marketing areas, including: Education Marketing, Community and Social Media, Partner Communications, international growth marketing. A strong and considerate leader, this position has five direct reports – Digital & Community Coordinator, Marketing Specialist, China, Senior Content & Communications Specialist, and two Marketing Coordinators. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a highly organized project and people manager capable of handling multiple deadlines, projects and day-to-day tasks. This person will need to quickly grasp Merrithew’s expansive business channels and dive in to new and ongoing projects, to advise, lead and motivate the team of direct reports. The Manager, Marketing & Communications has day-to-day interaction with key internal partners and external partners – working closely within the team and across the company to ensure we deliver on message, on brand and on strategy.

Major responsibilities

Marketing and leadership

  • Project Management: Manage and execute campaigns and programs for Merrithew’s LOBs: Education, Commercial, Retail to raise the profile of the company globally
  • Leadership: Provide guidance to direct reports via day-to-day direction of tasks, planning annual goals and development paths
  • Planning and Reporting: Lead and manage a calendar of marketing and communications actions to support company objectives
  • Global Marketing: Work closely with the VP to support and deliver upon region specific international marketing initiatives such as translations, social media/influencer marketing and awareness campaigns
  • Product Marketing: Oversee and deliver product and education specific marketing material including but not limited to manuals, postcards, product care and owners’ guides.

Community, media and content management

  • Community and social media: Oversee and drive social media strategy across key platforms and initiatives, including, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, WeChat and influencer marketing. Report on KPIs, analyze key metrics and provide direction to the Digital Community Coordinator
  • Content Management: Oversee the calendar of content including blogs, press releases, media pitches and other communication that supports the business objectives and is on-brand
  • Brand and Asset Stewardship: Oversee the creation of marketing and PR assets and support partners with marketing sales collateral, articles, images, trademarks, branding standards/guidelines. Act as a brand guardian and work cross-functionally to monitor and update when necessary

Print, digital and email marketing

  • Advertising: Maintain annual advertising deadline and submission schedule. Oversee the submission of project requests for print ads. Review all ad invoices and submit for approval and assist in the creation of advertising, promotional and editorial copy and materials such as product features, media partner banners, eblasts, etc.
  • Email Marketing: Work with the Director, Digital Marketing to plan email marketing campaigns as needed to support various projects and oversee the email scheduling calendar
  • Analytics: Work closely with the Director, Digital Marketing to analyze and align on SEM, social, blog, advertising, web traffic campaigns and provide insights and recommendations

Project management

  • Work closely with the VP and other key stakeholders to implement key projects in the marketing calendar including but not limited to website, new product launches, digital platform activation, photo and video shoots, and other brand programs that arise

Skills and qualifications

  • University or College Degree in Marketing, Communications and/or a related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years marketing experience in a related position
  • Ability to understand and integrate a global brand strategy
  • Effective understanding of latest technologies and their application to marketing – including but not limited to, social media management, email marketing programs, CRM, CMS, analytics tools, etc.
  • Strong project and time management skills with demonstrated success working under pressure and adhering to deadlines
  • Experience in a client focused business with impeccable, leadership, communication, relationship building and problem solving skills
  • An energetic, creative go-getter attitude with strong work ethic and professionalism
  • Industry curiosity and a willingness to listen to, explore, and present new ideas
  • Agency experience considered a strong asset
