Key Account Manager, Commercial Partner Sales

Position overview

Reporting to, and in close collaboration with the Senior Manager, Commercial Partner Sales, this Spanish speaking Key Account Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day sales activities for a number of Distributor and Reseller partnerships as well as a number of direct accounts. This role is responsible for maintaining and growing existing accounts in Central & South America as well as developing a network of new partners and direct customers to achieve annual sales objectives.

This individual will market and sell Merrithew products internationally to drive sales revenue and will take a lead role in highly targeted territorial business development. Fluency in Spanish is required and fluency in other languages such as Portuguese, a definite asset to this position.

The Key Account Manager will develop close relationships internally with Customer Service, Manufacturing, Shipping/ Logistics and Finance to oversee any customer service and credit/payment issues specific to their accounts. This position will have the support of a Senior Coordinator and will be trained and mentored under the guidance of their Senior Manager.

Major responsibilities

Direct Sales

  • Meet and exceed annual set sales quotas
  • Review, understand and conduct meetings with all current partners to gain a better understanding of their business and unique account-specific sales opportunities
  • Submit annual projections for all major Distributors and Resellers including growth strategy and review progress quarterly with team
  • Promote/ negotiate/ sell/ secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based, consultative sales approach
  • Ensure that Merrithew products are properly represented on all Distributor and Reseller websites
  • Develop comprehensive product knowledge of all lines of business to identify competitive features/ benefits and favorably present Company products and services
  • Create territorial summaries that capture the above information so anyone at Merrithew would have a clear overview of our current status in any given territory
  • Report to management on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products/ services

Business Development

  • Work with Senior Manager, Commercial Partner Sales to identify, pitch, secure and manage new Distributor and Reseller Partners as well as direct accounts
  • Visit or meet with potential partners, when/as appropriate, to develop new business
  • Manage onboarding of all new partners
  • Attend and participate in trade shows, conventions, sales meetings and product seminars


  • Implement quarterly and event-specific promotions for Commercial partners in designated territories
  • Oversee website and social media reviews with key partners and direct customers in designated territories, in conjunction with Senior Coordinator and Marketing

Administrative/Customer Service

  • Manage forecasts, close deals, and track customer data using company standard CRM tools
  • Manage sales funnel and provide accurate forecasts to Management
  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints with all necessary departments
  • Assist as needed with pricing, set up, shipping and internal logistical issues that allow us to launch new partnerships
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and qualifications

  • Spoken and written fluency in Spanish is required. Other languages, such as Portuguese, a definite asset
  • 5-7 years in Sales and Key Account Management, with the ability to hit and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Sales experience in the fitness industry an asset
  • Strong business judgment and decision-making skills; ability to identify, prioritize and articulate highest impact initiatives for business development
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Able and willing to travel internationally as required for the position
  • Superior problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent MS Office and presentation proficiency along with the ability to use CRM software to track and close leads
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), both in articulating his/her ideas and gathering input from key stakeholders
