International E-Commerce Sales Representative, Retail

Position overview

Reporting to the Sales Director, Retail, this individual will be the primary liaison with Merrithew’s new 3rd party web partner in China working to expand Merrithew’s At Home SPX Reformer line and fitness accessories with a focus on the consumer market. This person will search out other opportunities to increase the company’s brand presence and sales in China, and beyond, including other global B2B and B2C E-commerce platforms. Proficiency in Mandarin is essential. This role is currently remote, but will be evaluated again within the next few months and will likely move into a hybrid (home/office) position.

Major responsibilities

E-Commerce Sales

  • Work with the 3rd party platform in China to increase presence and sales of Retail equipment and accessories
  • Liaise with the 3rd party platform in China to provide Customer Service, process orders and to ensure promotional and marketing materials are created and provided in a timely manner
  • Independently identify and secure new E-Commerce business in other international markets to optimize placement and increase sales of Merrithew® products
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Key Accounts at all levels in the buying organization
  • Notify Key Accounts of new releases and discounted items, with admin support
  • Submit annual projections, by account, including growth strategy
  • Participate in best-practices training programs offered by Key Accounts
  • Play an active role in creating solutions to meet Key Account requirements meeting with key internal stakeholders when needed (i.e. I.T., shipping, inventory management, finance)

Business Development

  • Develop and maintain thorough product knowledge of proprietary and competitive equipment and accessories in key Asian markets for Retail business opportunities
  • Work with the Sales Director, Retail to develop strategies for the Retail channel internationally that will achieve business growth targets
  • Conduct research to determine new E-Commerce and in store opportunities for Retail items
  • Explore on-air opportunities for Merrithew’s Retail product line (QVC Global, HSN, and Asian-equivalent selling platforms)
  • Use strong business judgement and decision-making skills to be able to identify, prioritize and articulate highest impact initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned, which will also include Sales coverage for a select group of existing North American E-commerce accounts

Administrative

  • Responsible for the internal set-up and launch of new accounts, which includes working with the Sales Director, Retail and E-Commerce Operations team on processes relating to contract negotiations, pricing, terms and conditions, discounts, EDI, logistics etc.
  • Manage all account communication, including: new products, price changes, promotions, policies, warranties etc. as needed
  • Work with diverse teams across multiple departments to expedite the resolution of customer and logistical issues
  • Track customer data using company standard CRM tools
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as needed

Skills and qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Sales Representative role handling E-commerce accounts in the Asian Retail market
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in both English and Mandarin required, with communication skills in Japanese or Korean an asset
  • Able to work independently with a proven track record in driving measurable results and exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent prospecting skills, using social media sources including: WeChat, What’s App, LinkedIn and Facebook, etc.
  • Able and willing to travel internationally and domestically, as required
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to shifting priorities
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Sales experience in the fitness industry an asset
