Social Media and Community Coordinator (Maternity Leave Contract)

Position overview

The Social Media and Community Coordinator (Contract) is responsible for the administrative and digital marketing support activities of the Marketing and Communications department under the direction of the Manager, Marketing and Communications. Coordinating a wide range of digital marketing and social media / community building initiatives, the Social Media and Community Coordinator interacts with every department internally to support a consistent and cohesive brand message across all of our digital channels.

The ideal candidate is highly adept at digital marketing and social media channels with an exceptional ability to multi-task, prioritize and shift gears as needed to meet business priorities.

Major responsibilities

Content creation and strategy

  • Develop social media content plans and monthly calendar that are consistent with the company’s brand identity
  • Create consistent, meaningful content on all social media platforms, including writing and editing social media posts and creating photo and video assets, to improve audience engagement and promoting marketing campaigns
  • Collaborate and distribute blog content as needed
  • Run social media ad campaigns on Facebook and Instagram
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and capture photo and video content for use on social media

Community management

  • Monitor social media profiles and communicate with followers, including active engagement and responding to queries in a timely manner
  • Utilize scheduling, monitoring and tracking tools to monitor mentions, respond to comments/inquiries and increase overall community engagement
  • Develop and manage social influencer campaigns

Metrics analysis

  • Utilize analytical tools such as Sprout Social, Facebook and Instagram Insights to monitor and evaluate social media presence and performance
  • Analyze data to determine whether social media ads and campaigns have achieved their objectives and recalibrate as needed
  • Preparing monthly reports measuring social media performance and marketing efforts
  • Suggest recommendations to adjust the social media marketing strategy for optimal results

Event marketing support

  • Create social media content for Merrithew channels and event and symposium presenters
  • Coordinate influencer marketing tactics to promote events and symposiums with direction and support from Marketing Manager
  • Capture and share live social media content at events and symposiums when required

Special projects

  • Support PR and CRM activities as needed
  • Complete other special projects as assigned by the Manager / VP
  • Support compliance projects and tasks

Skills and qualifications

  • University or College Degree in Marketing, Communications and/or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Digital Marketing Assistant, Marketing Coordinator or other relevant role
  • Effective understanding of marketing technologies – marketing email programs, social media publishing/analytical tools, social media platforms, content management systems, HTML, Google Analytics etc.
  • Strong project and time management skills with demonstrated success working under pressure and adhering to deadlines in fast-paced environments
  • Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills with exceptional time-management ability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An energetic, go-getter attitude with strong work ethic and professionalism
  • Excellent Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook skills
  • Familiar with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere
