Carpentry Assistant

Position overview

Reporting to the Lead Hand, Carpentry & Upholstery at our manufacturing and distribution center in Scarborough, this role will be responsible for various carpentry tasks in relation to exercise equipment.

We’re looking for a candidate with good hand-eye coordination, strong attention to detail and a hard working individual who can easily work alone and in the team when needed.

Major responsibilities

  • Cutting different types of structural wood (plywood, boards, etc.) using different types of electric and pneumatic equipment (drill presses, miter saws, table saws, routers, jig saws)
  • Assembling different types of wood products using a variety of assembly tools (pneumatic staplers, pneumatic nailers, electric drills, screwdriver and manual hammer)
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, climb, pull and lift heavy objects
  • Any other duties assigned

Skills and qualifications

  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in carpentry
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge of different carpentry materials and techniques
  • Familiar with hand tools / power tools – eg. Cordless drills and pneumatic tools
  • Professional, positive attitude with a strong and dependable work ethic
  • Efficient and consistent ability to produce high volume of quality work
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
