Exercise of the Month: STOTT PILATES® and ZEN•GA® Fascial Movement warm-up

How important is the warm-up component of your workout?

An effective warm-up should gradually elevate your body temperature, increase blood flow to your muscles, and loosen and mobilize stiff joints and fascia, helping you prepare and ease into the more strenuous part of your workout ahead.

It’s also an opportunity to focus on your breathing to settle your mind, clear away mental distractions and connect more mindfully to your movement practice.

For November’s Exercise of the Month, Merrithew™ Lead Instructor Trainer Sarah Jarvis has combined elements of STOTT PILATES® and ZEN•GA® Fascial Movement to create a gentle and mindful warm-up sequence that’s suitable before any workout.

In this video, you’ll practice breathing patterns that focus on lateral/posterior expansion, spinal rotation and mobilization, and releasing tension and stiffness in the joints.

Get ready to feel more open, relaxed and ready to take on the challenges ahead.
