Spot the Difference: Stomach Massage (Straight Back)

Lead Instructor Trainer Rie Sakamoto uses the V2 Max Plus Reformer to demonstrate Stomach Massage (Straight Back).

Question: Which picture shows the correct position?

Stomach Massage - Photo A Photo A
Stomach Massage - Photo B Photo B

Answer: Photo A

In Photo A, Rie's shoulders are over the hips. The Scapular are stabilized. Her weight is at the back of sit-bones, the lumbar spine is in slight flexion and the thoracic spine is lengthened.

In Photo B, Rie's shoulders are overly elevated and not stabilized (the hands should be on the carriage) and her weight is too far back of the sit-bones.
