Jill was first introduced to STOTT PILATES® through one of our Matwork DVDs. Jill liked how Pilates strengthened her core and was intrigued by the mind-body connection. She then began taking classes once a week at a studio in Charlotte and was immediately drawn to the features of the equipment and decided to pursue her full certification, which was a nice complement to her Bachelor of Science Degree in Dance Education and History.
Once Jill received her full certification she opened a small at home studio and within six months she opened her fully equipped studio, Core Studio Pilates & Yoga in Monroe, North Carolina. The opening of her own studio has allowed Jill to fulfill her passion of bringing movement and Pilates to everyone.
Jill loves teaching Pilates and how it allows her to get to know all the people who come into her studio. Everyone that Jill teaches has a story that makes them special and different. She loves the diversity in teaching an athlete one hour and a senior client the next and the opportunity that Pilates has allowed her to educate others. She is on the faculty at Extreme Ice Center, where she created a Pilates program for competitive figure skaters. Her studio also created a team, “Core Studio-Project Pink” last year and raised $12,000 for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.
Jill is really excited about her newest project, Core Studio Compassion Project, a non-profit, which will provide Pilates and Yoga-based post-rehab for cancer patients. Early into her days as a Pilates Instructor, Jill realized quickly the many benefits Pilates has on improving the quality of life for those battling cancer. This past February Jill’s mother was diagnosed with colon cancer and this was the catalyst that pushed her to making this project come to life. Core Studio Compassion Project’s Board is planning fundraising for 2013, with a goal to start the program in 2014. She is very excited to share the health benefits of Pilates to those who need it most.
