The Movement Lab

ABOUT: The Movement Lab offers numerous STOTT PILATES Certification courses, including Mat; Reformer; Cadillac, Chair & Barrels; and Injuries & Special Populations courses - as well as workshops; examinations and continuing education. In addition to Instructor Training,The Movement Lab offers clients private; semi-private and various group classes.

Situated in a idyllic setting in the leafy suburb of Walmer, Port Elizabeth, this fully equipped STOTT PILATES studio offers clients and students a visual and auditory feast. The studio is situated in a newly renovated, quaint home with original wooden floors, ample en suite accomodation, and large open-spaced studios. The garden is peaceful and tranquil, with a swimming pool waiting to be enjoyed - the perfect environment to focus; study; and of course, relax.

The Intensive Program

The STOTT PILATES Intensive program is for fitness and health professionals. This program prepares you to teach STOTT PILATES Level 1 Matwork and equipment-based repertoires safely, effectively and with confidence.


Intensive Mat-Plus™ (IMP)

The Comprehensive Program

Designed for those with some movement training and exposure to Pilates, Comprehensive courses cover functional anatomy and the practical skills needed to develop effective and motivating Level 1 Matwork and equipment-based programs.

The Rehabilitation Program

The Rehabilitation program is specifically for licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, sports medicine professionals and chiropractors wishing to integrate modified STOTT PILATES exercises for injury prevention and rehabilitation into their practices.

ZEN•GA Courses

ZEN•GA™ is an innovative fusion of exercise science and mindful movement that brings about clarity of the mind while releasing body tension through purposeful movement. ZEN represents the search for inner discovery, while YOGA symbolizes the way to reach it. Together they form ZEN•GA, which is based on Four Mindful Movement Principles: breath, support, yield and flow. When applied together, these principles allow you to become aware of how the body and the mind move in tandem. Total Barre™ Courses

Total Barre™ is a high-energy program that focuses on strength, flexibility, stamina and dynamic stability by combining elements from Pilates, dance, cardio and strength training. Programming is driven by music which increases coordination, motivation and improve movement quality. Incorporating the Total Barre Foundational Principles, this program teaches choreography, exercise essence and correct biomechanics of movements as well as how to cue effectively and safely to music.

Prerequisites:
The intensive courses are recommended for certified fitness instructors, personal trainers, and other fitness & health professionals who want to expand their knowledge and enhance their business. Applicants must have, at least three years experience teaching fitness, dance or movement, familiarity with the works of Joseph Pilates, formal anatomy training and a working knowledge of muscle origins, insertions and functions, in order to attend the course.
A Note Regarding Exams:
You are not obliged to write (and pay for) two exams if you are planning to take both courses. You may choose to wait until completion of the second course to write your exam (a combined Matwork and Reformer exam). If you prefer to pause between courses, you may choose to take an exam to become certified in Matwork only, and another exam (a combined Matwork and Reformer exam) after completing the second course to become certified in Reformer work. In this case two exam fees would apply.
